The Nanka Clothing Story
Our Founder
“As a Black woman from Africa and a student of psychology, I understand the important role that our sense of fashion plays on our identity and self-worth. I struggle daily, as a resident in the United States of America to find clothing that represents who I am and simultaneously espouse the culture of my new home. The goal for my brand is to bridge the gap that exists between Africa and the rest of the world through the lens of fashion. It is important for me, and hopefully for everyone, to constantly celebrate SELF and equally assimilate into the new culture I have embraced and come to love. As an inexpensive alternative to travelling back to Africa just to find everyday clothing that best represents who I am, the hope and sense of belonging I desperately seek is to one day walk into a major clothing retail store and see NANKA clothing and YNAT? many other African-inspired clothing brands hanging on the racks.

Our Roots
Founded in 2021 and became operational in 2023, Nanka Clothing started as a small clothing brand in a 2-car garage. Since then, we have remained consistent and committed to quality. Two years later, we are happy to announce that our business is working on partnering with retailers in the United States to place our products in select stores. We hope to increase and normalize the presence of African-inspired clothing in mainstream retail. In the meantime we operate as an e-commerce brand with occasional pop-up shops and fashion shows including features at NYFW. Our Style
Nanka Clothing is a blend of authentic African inspired and contemporary fashion for all. Our handcrafted collection of afro-centric clothing and accessories is designed for men, women, and children as we attempt to demystify the fashion divide between Africa and the rest of the world.
Nanka clothing is a fusion of traditional African fashion and modern/contemporary styles. Our designs are adaptable for everyday use and we take pride in the affordability of our products. We focus primarily on simple everyday couture or ready-to-wear or 'off-the-racks' fashion.
Our brand is an invitation to all cultures around the world to experience what it feels or looks like to be African in style.
